Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia is a shopping paradise.
It is perfect for a 2-4 day trip to go sightseeing and shopping.
Things to do in Kuala Lumpur
Batu Caves
The Batu Caves is a really cool place to see in KL. It is a little outside, but it is easy to get there with the KTM train line. It is the last stop and from there it is a 5 minutes walk.
The big buddha is very impressive and the way on the stairs is full of monkeys. They smell bananas and like to steal.
Skybar
The Trade Hotel has a Skybar in the 32nd floor with a pool and a perfect few of the twin towers. Drinks are a little pricy, but the view is really worth it.
Shopping in the city center
The shopping Mall Pavilion is right by a nice fountain and has every kind of shops I could wish for from cheap to expensive.
Malls and shops are open till 10 pm.
Electronics Malls
Playa Low Yat
Lot 10
Chinatown
Chinatown has a cute market with shopping and food stands.
I LOVE KL Sign
The I LOVE KL Sign in front of the Kuala Lupur City Gallery is a great stop to take a lovely photo. This sign is known as one of the most photographed structures in KL. It is in the Dataran Merdeka enclave and was built in 2012.
Accommodation in Kuala Lumpur
We always wanted to do couch surfing and Kuala Lumpur was the first city we tried it. Our host Jordan was amazing, a very friendly, helpful and nice person, who showed us good places to eat and helped me buying a macbook there.
Airbnb is also a good option to stay in a cheap place in KL.
Hostels
Homestay Guesthouse:
One of the best Hostels is the Homestay Guesthouse, which is located in the center. One night in a dorm is about 8-10 Euro.
Transportation in Kuala Lumpur
- Kuala Lumpur’s Rapid Transit Network:
It is not the easiest way, but very cheap to get around in this big city. We did almost everything by trains. - Bus:
From the Airport to the Main Train station (called Bandar Tasik station) is only 10RM per person and it takes about 60 minutes. - Taxi:
Taxis are cheap compared to Germany. But before 6 am and after midnight the taxi drivers charge you 25 % on top.
